The chances of success here are somewhat unknown because very few people have applied but nevertheless it would be far from easy. The applicant's success might depend on the following
1. The laws governing asylum application in the host country
2. Whether he/she could be prove that he/she was a homosexual.
3. Whether it can be argued that to be a homosexual constitutes being a member of a social group.
4. Whether it can be proved that either homosexuals in Egypt as a group or the applicant in particular faces persecution on grounds of his sexuality. Meaning that he faces discrimination and/or mistreatment by the police or other authorities and can not live either safely or without unfair treatment/discrimination in Egypt.
BUT PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON THIS ADVICE ALONE WITHOUT FIRST SEEKING THE ADVICE OF A LAWYER - preferably one who specializes in immigration.
